World Travel on a Plate
This project serves as the key visual design for Eslite’s "Taste & Tastes," a campaign centered on the exploration of culinary culture and lifestyle. The core concept is "Wandering the City through Taste"—food is more than mere sustenance; it is the most direct vessel for understanding a nation's culture.
To perfectly fuse the imagery of "travel" and "cuisine," I utilized iconic ingredients from various countries to construct a series of "edible landmarks."

Handcrafted Warmth & Experimental Spirit
Unlike CGI or stock photo montages, every visual element in this project is derived from real ingredients. This was an architectural experiment that took place in both the kitchen and the photography studio:

Process: Handcrafted Edible Architecture

To emphasize authenticity and craftsmanship, this project completely eschews CGI. I personally visited markets to select ingredients based on their texture and color, then hand-carved and assembled them into iconic architectural landmarks:

  • The Eiffel Tower: Constructed using the geometric properties of Rotelle pasta to mimic the tower's intricate steel beam structure.
  • Japanese Torii: Composed of sliced carrots to form the Torii gate, accompanied by rice balls and cherry blossom decorations symbolizing the sunrise, evoking a traditional Japanese atmosphere.
  • The Leaning Tower of Pisa: Finely carved from radish and accented with Italian herbs, perfectly recreating its classic leaning posture.
  • Taiwanese Temple: Built using the colorful layers of taro, cucumber, and chili peppers, capturing the vibrant energy of local cuisine and culture.

This hands-on process of deconstructing and reassembling ingredients mirrors the very essence of culinary art. The result is a playful, surreal "food microcosm" that conveys the freshness of the ingredients and the unique warmth of handcrafted creation.

eslite Bookstore: A Cultural Sanctuary

Established in 1989, eslite Bookstore derives its name from the ancient Greek word "élite," symbolizing the pursuit of excellence and the cultivation of a better society.

More than just a bookstore, eslite serves as a sanctuary for the soul. Centered on the core values of "Humanities, Art, Creativity, and Life," it transcends traditional boundaries by seamlessly integrating reading with diverse cultural exhibitions. With its unique spatial aesthetics—characterized by warm wooden flooring, ambient lighting, and an extensive literary collection—eslite offers a quiet spiritual haven for the busy urbanite.
From pioneering the "24-hour bookstore" model to its composite business approach featuring performances, galleries, creative commerce, and dining, eslite has become Taiwan's definitive cultural landmark. It stands as a pivotal force in promoting reading culture and lifestyle aesthetics across the global Chinese-speaking community.

International Recognition: eslite was named Asia's Best Bookstore by TIME Magazine and recognized by CNN as one of the World's Coolest Bookstores.
